About the 4./GR 914
Unit History
The 352. Infanterie-Division was formed in late 1943 and deployed to defend the Normandy coast in 1944. Grenadier-Regiment 914 held sectors facing the Omaha Beach landings and later fought in the hedgerows toward St. Lo. Our portrayal of 4. Kompanie focuses on the everyday infantryman: his equipment, fieldcraft, and the challenges of combat in Normandy. We are a non-political living history group dedicated to education and remembrance.
What to Expect in WWII Reenacting
Expect periodic training days, tacticals, and public displays. Safety and historical accuracy come first. New members start with loaner gear when available and build their kit over time with guidance from unit mentors. Physical activity includes marching, field exercises, and time in all weather conditions.
Basic Infantryman Kit (Feldgrau)
Required starter kit:
- M40/M42 Stahlhelm
- M43 Feldbluse and trousers (feldgrau)
- Belt & buckle; Y-straps (as appropriate)
- Breadbag, canteen (M31), mess tin
- Gas mask canister (used as carrier)
- Bayonet and frog
- Kar98k (deactivated/blank-capable where legal) or loaner rifle for recruits
- Jackboots (Marschstiefel) or ankle boots with gaiters
- Zeltbahn/shelter quarter and stakes
- Wool socks; field cap (M43)
Optional Items (build over time)
- Greatcoat (Mantel) or parka (seasonal)
- A-frame, assault pack, or tornister as appropriate
- Entrenching tool (spade) & carrier
- Ammunition pouches (Kar98k or MP40 as applicable)
- Camo smock or Zeltbahn shelter as rain layer
- Helmet cover or net
- Breadbag strap support hooks, mess kit strap
- Personal items (eating utensils, hygiene kit, sewing kit)
- Specialty roles (MG assistant gear, signals kit) as assigned

Rules & Regulations
- Safety first: range and blank-fire rules are strictly enforced; no live ammunition at events.
- Authenticity: uniforms and equipment must meet unit standards; mentors will help you source correct items.
- Conduct: we represent history, not ideology. Political symbols are used only in context where event rules require and are never promoted.
- Age: 18+. Ages 16-17 may participate with parent/guardian approval and supervision, per event rules.
- Compliance: follow unit NCO directions and all site/event regulations; respect property and the public.
- Legal: ensure all federal, state, and local laws are followed regarding firearms and pyrotechnics.
- Dues and attendance: modest annual dues and participation expectations may apply.
